Ok, new year, new decade and a new desktop.
New ? not exactly. It takes most of my prebious desktop features and ressources with some changes and evolutions.
I’m trying to give you most of the details and ressources (orignals and my mods) bellow, in case you need to ask for something that missing, feel free to comments.

I’ve just got a brand new HP Probook 5310m. It’s a really cute and efficient piece of hardware and almost everything worked out of the box after installing an ubuntu karmic 9.10.

Here is my second eee desktop setup for november.
GTK Theme is devART Autumn 09 edition metacity comes from Sugar suite.
I made a few modifications to gtkrc, I’ll try to update this post with a diff between original and mine.
Conkyrc is the same as last time.
The dock is cairo-dock with a custom theme (prefer the packages from cairo-dock repositories than the one from ubuntu repositories).
The clock is a cairo-dock detached desklet.

Here is my november setup on my Asus eee 1101HA, running ubuntu jaunty (9.04) with gnome.
I have to try a lighter environment because gnome eats too much memory, unfortunately no time at the moment.

I’ve just got a brand new dedicated server. I’ve installed an ubuntu server 9.04 and default locale was configured to fr_FR.FR@euro (which is ISO). My first try to change this to UTF-8 was to run :

Gospy-applet is a Gnome applet that monitors changes on servers and web pages. You can add an illimited number of sources to monitor. It is possible to detect changes in HTTP header fields, IP associated with domain name, page content, page status, page load time and so on.

Here’s a new howto explaining the steps to compile, install and enable the gnome-globalmenu-0.7 series from trunk on your desktop.
This has been tested on Ubuntu intrepid ibex but it should work on hardy too. It should also work with other distributions, except for the first step (dependencies install).
Globalmenu works with “real” gtk applications. That means globalmenu will not work with firefox and openoffice.
